Fortuna’s Blog

Tony and I have talked a lot about this and we’ve come to a decision that leaves us a little sad. Fortuna’s Archive along with Fortuna’s Garden will be closing officially on March 12 2009. That is when our next billing will come due with our web hosting company.

Although we love Fortuna’s and what it could have been we have not had a lot of members and have decided that we are going to just let the sites go.

We have however, created a family of RPG sites that we are hoping will become a lot of fun.

Just for One Day  is a Heroes RPG site that is set 30 years in the future. Some canon characters are available to be taken and original characters are welcome. Primatech, Pinehearst and Linderman Industries are three hugely powerful companies each with a very different agenda. You may join as one of those or remain neutral. The possibilities are endless.

That Old Black Magic is a AU Supernatural RPG site. Canon characters are available there as well. Join the fight as a hunter, demon, human, angel or creature of the night.

Do you believe in magic? is a Potterverse RPG that takes place 30 years after the end of Deathly Hallows. There are plenty of canon characters up for grabs. There is a new dark force beginning to build power. Dementia Doughall has created a dark legion of followers who have determined that the pure bloods of the world have been the ones to blame for the terrors that the wizarding community has faced in the past. Voldemort, Grindelwald and Slytherin to name a few, are the ones who have contributed to the most heinous acts in history and she is determined to wipe out all pure bloods to put an end to their reign of horror.

New York, New York is an anything goes RPG site that is set in the big Apple. There is a place for anyone and everyone here in the big city.

Bleeding Rainbow is a site for those of us who enjoy a truly melodramatic moment. The site is basically a soap opera in RPG form. Create a character and their evil twin, have an affair with your spouse’s best friend, or just have a good old fashioned Dynasty slap fight in the middle of Verona. The possiblities here are as wide ranging as your imagination.

Well, we have been kind of lax in the whole “post once a week” department, however all has been peaceful in the Garden as of late.  We have been working, but in a more covert fashion with additions that are not glaringly obvious.  Though innocuous they may be, the additions were planned to make life in the Garden a little more welcoming, and maybe a little more informative. We have a new Affiliate here at Fortuna’s Garden. We are always looking for wonderful, supportive and fun sites to affiliate ourselves with and Gluttony embodies all of that and more.

Gluttony is designed to host Harry Potter Fan Fiction, Original Fiction, Original Poetry Collections, Drabbles and RPG Fan Fiction. With the MANY sites out there, Elena has created a great archive and forum that will hopefully become another place where you can relax with a cuppa and read some really fantastic stories. Don’t forget to check out their forum, Temperance as well.

We have decided that it would be a great idea to create a challenge based on what all of us are going to do at some point or another in our authoring lives. We, at Fortuna’s Garden, are going to be hosting the Great ‘Get Your Story Out’ Challenge in early 2009! The point of the challenge is to get your work out into the publishing world, and we hope to make this a fairly regular event.

This challenge is still in it’s infancy of planning, however we will be fleshing it out as time goes and hope to implement the challenge after NaNoWriMo, November 30th. I know what you’re thinking, “November of 2009? Kind of jumping the gun a little bit, aren’t you?” Well, no actually. I’ll explain…
